About Nina

Mgr. Nina Hanáková, CELTA

“I dream that one day English will be a completely natural communication tool for many more than 22% of the Czech population. That the new concept of education will include language teaching without coursebooks, that the emphasis in all schools will be on autonomy of learning, and that a large part of the teaching will be devoted to why it is good to learn English, how to do it, what we can learn from each other, and how to use English in everyday life.”

I have been working as an English teacher, coach and mentor of teachers in the language education industry for 20 years, since 2004. English has been my heart language for 40 years – since I was a little girl dancing in my living room to Beatles records and pretending to sing in English.

Today I take care of all the running of Nina English. I teach, coach, mentor, consult, webinar, podcast, create online materials, workshop, create tailor-made courses for companies, schools, institutions and individuals, lecture, run Club For Successful ELT Freelancers since 2020, host the International Language Teachers Festival since 2021 and produce the Successful Women in ELT podcast since 2022.

I’ve been blogging about English without coursebooks since 2009 and making videos, speaking at conferences since 2013 and hosting the big Nina English pub nights in Brno from 2011 – 2018. Between 2010 – 2022 I founded and ran the very popular and successful Experiential English Courses for women and children.

What I enjoy most about my work with students is when clients fall in love with English, boost their confidence in communication and learn to learn without too much pain. I also find it hugely fulfilling to work with all the wonderful tutors who have come into my life, and together to create a supportive international community of ELT freelancers.

I have a degree in English and Dutch Studies from Palacký University in Olomouc (2004) and have lived and studied in the Netherlands, Belgium, USA, UK and Turkey.
